Founder & CEO

Karlene Murray is a child of God and the founder of Murray Publishing & Professional Services Limited and The Self-Publish Connection book community. She is an administrative specialist with over 12 years of experience, including five years in the legal industry. Karlene is a certified copy editor and proofreader with over two years of experience in the book publishing industry. She is also pursuing her Master of Science in Counselling degree.

How do I book a service or session?

To get started, click the link to schedule a Discovery Call. Once we receive your booking a link will be sent with our Discovery Call Form. This short form helps us understand your needs, where you are in the publishing process, and what kind of support you’re looking for. Once you submit it, we’ll be able to tailor our discussion to better help you.

Do I need my manuscript to be finished before booking?

Yes. Your manuscript should be finalised before we begin. This ensures we can move smoothly into copyediting, formatting, uploading, and preparing for launch. If you are still writing, we recommend booking once your manuscript is near completion. Please note your spot is not secured until a deposit has been made. There will be an additional charge for rush services.

How long does Amazon KDP publishing take?

On average, a complete KDP setup and publishing process takes 8–10 weeks from the time we receive your finalised manuscript. This includes copyediting, formatting, setup, proofing, and preparing for launch. Timelines can vary depending on complexity and response times.

Do you offer free consultations?

We offer a complimentary 15-minute discovery call to assess your goals and share the services and packages we offer. This call is not a full strategy session; if needed, we offer paid 1-hour consultations.

How much do your services cost?

Service pricing varies based on the your needs. Although we have full done-for-you services packages (basic KDP setup, full publishing support, or marketing add-ons), a detailed proposal and quote will be provided after your discovery call or consultation.

When and how do I pay?

A 60% deposit is required to secure your booking and start the process. The remaining 40% balance is due before we officially publish your book on KDP or for other services*. You can pay via bank transfer or payment link using your debit/credit card.

* Please note that some services require payments in full upfront.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes.  For larger projects, you can choose to pay in three instalments instead of two. This makes the process more manageable while still securing your spot.

What happens after I book?

After the discovery call/consultation, the agreement, invoice, and scope of work documents will be sent to you. Once the agreement has been signed and returned along with the proof of payment of the 60% deposit or initial instalment, we will send you a link to submit your manuscript. We will also provide a process timeline checklist and regulary updates so that you may follow along.

Can I reschedule or cancel my project?

Because our services are customised for each client, we do not offer refunds once a project has begun. If a deposit has been made and the project is paused by the client, it may be rescheduled within one month of the pause date.

What if I can’t afford the full package?

We offer flexible solutions:

  • Payment Plans – These can be date or milestone-specific. This must be agreed upon before the project begins. Please note that your project may be paused if the payment timelines are not adhered to. 
  • Coaching – We offer coaching support that spans up to three months. Anything outside of that time will be at an additional charge.
  • Use of the ebooks: checklists, guides, and templates to complete your publishing process at your own pace.
  • You can book standalone services outside of the prepackaged solutions (copyediting, proofreading, formatting, cover design, publishing, etc.).
What do I need to prepare before we start?

Have these ready before your project start date:

  • Finalized manuscript
  • Cover design concept
  • KDP account (if not already set up, we can guide you through the process)
Do you help with marketing?

Yes, we offer various options to help you:

  • Strategy session and action plan to move forward 
  • A one-month done-with-you social media campaign 
  • Provide an action plan with graphics
  • Website with author branding
  • Our ebook marketing guide to create your own plan
Do I keep all my royalties?

Yes, you keep 100% of all royalties received from your chosen publishing platform. Murray Publishing help you to publish your book under your details, so your book, your royalties.
